Resurrection Bay and the Resurrection River support the largest sport fishery for silver (coho) salmon in the state of Alaska. However, very little scientific study of this fish run has taken place. The National Park Service has undertaken a study to gather baseline information about the timing, size, and genetics of these fish, many of which swim up into waters that lie along the boundary of Kenai Fjords National Park.
